Homestead is located at the edge of the West Hills in Southwest Portland. Primarily made up of OHSU & Shriners Hospitals. With Terwilliger & Barbur Boulevard below, only one street at the top leads out of this neighborhood so remember the name Marquam Hill Rd. Because so little of this area is residential housing, the few homes that are there in addition to high rise condos, but the views at the top are pretty amazing. You’ll want to find alternate routes out of Homestead neighborhoods so that you can avoid the consistent tie up along Terwilliger by the hospitals. (Terwilliger provides great inclines perfect for marathon trainers and bicyclists and the trees and views are lush.)
Some of the newer homes in the area on the east facing slope are built up on stilts and have gorgeous views. The Marquam Nature Park takes up a great chunk of this neighborhood and worth your time to explore. The Chart House has always been a special place for dinner and/or dessert with their infamous mud pie. Warning–it takes two to finish one serving! Real Estate in Homestead is primarily made up now of new/not yet finished high rise condominiums from the $550′s up over $1M. There are single family homes that pop up, but since the area has very few, they are rare compared to other neighborhoods.
