Burlingame is a wonderful neighborhood and is part of the larger swath of homes part of real estate in SW Portland is one of the smallest neighborhoods in the area. With I-5 on one side and SW Boones Ferry road on the other (at the crest of Cemetery Hill better known as Taylors Ferry Rd) this little part of town has some great neighborhood haunts. From Pappacino’s, to Market of Choice, Chez Jose (3-words: Lime Chicken Enchillada) and other great small businesses, Burlingame just ‘feels’ like it’s own self suficient part of the universe.
Meander down Taylors Ferry west and you’ll drive right past a pizza spot that looks like it used to be a gas station….don’t be fooled. Just stop your car and get in there. Boones Ferry Road also provides an indirect but more efficient back route to Lake Oswego and I use it frequently when I5 traffic has piled up. Homes in Burlingame vary from charming 1950′s cottages with the corner windows, to 1970′s 1-level ranches that filled in over time.
The part I really like about this part of town are the meandering streets in the neighborhoods on the north side. These homes are stacked up the hill so each of them pop out just a bit and many have great views of the city and Mt. Hood. Real estate in Burlingame ranges from colonials to cape cod styles and salt boxes, it’s simply delightful to park the car, get out and walk. Next time I purchase a home, I will absolutely be watching this part of town!
