Cedar Mill is continually confused by it’s cousin Cedar Hills - just south of Hwy 26. A helpful hint to remembering the difference is that Cedar Mill is in the ‘trees’ and it was named after a sawmill that used to operate in the vicinity.
This neighborhood has been long established as part of Northwest Portland and Cedar Mill is filled with older and established homes. It is primarily residential with lots of cul-de-sacs and mid century one and two level houses built mostly prior to the 1950′s, however you will find a lack of sidewalks…they just weren’t on the horizon back then. Commercial activity congregates along Cornell Road & includes grocery stores, shops, apartments, churches and a variety of other small businesses. With it’s own farmers market and Sunset transit shuttle, Cedar Mill is homey but perfectly situated for access to all points Portland via Hwy 26 and 217.
Real estate in Cedar Mill has been a yo-yo this year with the 75th % bumping at $690k and the 25% at $183k. Active listings continued to flex between 82 and 124 each month throughout 2010. When you are buying in Cedar Mill or selling in Cedar Mill, make sure you know your comps!
